After previously reaching out to Bolivia, Cuba and Venezuela, the Iranian regime is making inroads with Uruguay. President Tabare Vazquez met on Monday with Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, where they discussed the 'baffling' move by the IAEA to report Iran to the Security Council.
Haddad-Adel described relations between the two countries as "good and positive," saying Iran favors expansion of relations with developing countries as distinguished from superpowers.
Vazquez called for further bolstering of trade and economic ties with Iran, adding that relations can also be bolstered in the political and cultural fields. Vazques also affirmed the right of any country to pursue nuclear energy for peaceful purposes as well as conduct research in this regard because of what he said was the impending depletion of oil resources.
