MediaLine reports that Israel has handed over to UNIFIL forces maps of mine fields it laid between 1978 and its withdrawal from Lebanon in 2000. It did so at a tri-lateral meeting between UNIFIL, the IDF and the LAF. In turning over the maps, Israel has fulfilled a long-standing demand by UNIFIL and the Lebanese army.
Disclosing the locations of several hundred thousand mines that were laid during Israel's occupation of a border zone in southern Lebanon has been one of the main demands of the Lebanese government and Hezbollah.
