A 36-year-old Iraqi man identified only as Ibrahim R and suspected of spreading video and audio recordings by leaders of al-Qaeda on the Internet was arrested near western Osnabrück by German authorities and could be charged with supporting a terrorist organization, federal prosecutors said.
They said the messages were from Osama bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahri, and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. They did not say whether the man was suspected of posting the messages on the Internet or only of having spread messages that already were there. There were no details of their content.
Hats off to the German police; or as they say in their own precise language "Ausgezeichnet! Gut gemacht!" :)
On the other hand the German judiciary has in the past left a great deal to be desired in the way of having the moral courage to convict the bad guys.
I've noticed a similar situation here in Canada where the cops are tops but the courts are unfortuately sometimes rather weak.
