The Israeli Air Force executed a successful strike on a Palestinian terrorist training camp in Gaza on Thursday night that killed explosives expert and Hamas security chief Jamal Abu Samhadana, who ruled over one of the most powerful terrorist organizations in Gaza. He was a key player in rocket attacks against Israeli citizens and a suspect in the fatal 2003 bombing of a U.S. convoy in Gaza.
His appointment as director-general of the Hamas-led Interior Ministry infuriated both Israel and Fatah, and despite his promotion to the Hamas-led Palestinian Authority, Samhadana was constantly moving stealthily and switching cars and hideouts.
At around 23:30, the IAF attacked a training camp of the Salah al-Din Brigades, the military wing of the Popular Resistance Committee (PRC), in the Rafah area. According to the IDF, the camp was at the time being used to train terrorists for a wide-scale attack, including training to cross the electronic border fence, the placing of explosives, and an attempt to attack one of the Israeli communities near Gaza.

"The Zionists and Israelis have opened the gates of hell by assassinating Abu Samhadana," a PRC spokesman said. "The Zionist entity and Zionist settlements near Gaza will not feel security and safety any more. Our rockets will rain into the Zionist entity and our heroes will blow themselves up among their dirty bodies."
The Palestinian Authority is fully responsible for any attacks emanating from its territory. Unfortunately, it continues to take no action in order to prevent terror attacks against Israel. As such, Israel must employ all means at its disposal to combat terrorists and their infrastructure.
