After looking at Tuesday's press briefing at the State Department (PDF), it's clear that the U.S. isn't interested in commenting on the successful IDF operation in Jericho earlier in the day. Instead, the State Department is framing it in the context of Palestinian failures to provide adequate security to U.S. and British monitors supervising the prison, which caused them to evacuate.
The U.S. also backtracked from the clear and definitive statement - less than 24 hours old - of no contacts with a Hamas-led government or individual Hamas ministers.
The lighter side of the press briefing... State Dept Spokesman Adam Ereli's admission that he'll "lay on the secretary any day of the week." How very interesting...
