The influential Jane's Defence Weekly is picking up on the growing foothold of al-Qaeda in southern Lebanon and Gaza that you read here first. Jane's cites the January 13 arrest of 13 al-Qaeda in southern Lebanon as proof that Shiite Hezbollah is threatened by al-Zarqawi's al-Qaeda, which has killed scores of Shiites in Iraq.
Israeli intelligence reports also suggest that 'Global Jihad' organisations have already set foot in Gaza, following Israel's August 2005 withdrawal. "It is a matter of time until we see an al-Qaeda attack inside Israel," intelligence sources said.
