Ahmadinejad Tells Crowd Imperial Powers Trying to Hold Back Iranian Strength

Here's an excerpt of remarks by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Iranian efforts to build a strong and viable country despite contrary efforts by imperial powers... It was broadcast on Al Alam TV this morning:

MAHMOUD AHMADINEJAD: This country, from its southern to its northern borders, from the district of Azerbaijan, to the district of Kurdistan and Karazan. God, praise be unto Him, has put at our disposal great resources for which we must invest in beneficial ways. The world's major imperial powers have always attempted to prevent the Iranian people from achieving any progress and have tried to stop Iran from being a strong country. They are opposing the progress of Iran, as you have been witnessing for more than twenty-five years how they have been exercising an economic embargo on us. The reason behind these actions is the desire to stop Iran from being a strong country.

Let me tell them, now, that they are mistaken. The Iranian people, the young people, the workers and scientists are self-sufficient. They have accomplished great feats in the field of nuclear technology without outside assistance of any kind. The Iranian people, alone, are capable of building a strong and viable Iran.

We have to continue building Iran. This building of Iran needs solidarity and cooperation from all of us. We have a lot of enemies who are dilligently searching for opportunities inside our country to stop this progress. They use new tricks every day. They are trying to break our national unity and determination. Let me tell these people again that they are mistaken. The Iranian people are but one family and one body. The Iranian people will not tolerate or allow any disloyalty among their families.

Every inch of this blessed land is strongly tied to the other by the principles and the values of the Islamic revolution. The people of the western Azerbaijan district have always stood beside the Islamic revolution and were always ready to protect it or to come to its aid in time of need.

In order to continue building the future of our nation, we need international justice and to continue to depend on our selves, only. We also need to expend extra efforts in this direction and to join hands in this process. We have to build our country with our own internal abilities.
