Hezbollah Fires Over 90 Rockets, Kills 2; UNIFIL Soldier Hit by Terrorists
Hezbollah has fired over 90 rockets on Israel today, bringing the total to 2,200 since two IDF soldiers were kidnapped by Hezbollah on July 12. The IDF's chief of military intelligence, Amos
Yadlin, told reporters that a similar number of rockets have been
destroyed as a result of IDF raids.
Shimon Glickblich, 60, was killed in Haifa when rocket shrapnel hit his vehicle as he was driving along a main road in Haifa. Habib Ouad, 48, from the western Galilee, was killed when a rocket hit a carpentry shop in a suburb of Haifa. Eleven others were wounded by the Katyusha missile strikes in Haifa, one of which was a direct hit on two cars in the city and the other of which struck a house in the vicinity. Missiles also struck Karmiel, the upper Galilee, and the Holeh valley. Two people were lightly wounded in Karmiel.
Additionally, several Qassam rockets were fired from Gaza this morning at a community in the western Negev, but there were no injuries or damages caused.
Israel was able to take out about 88 rocket launching grounds in Lebanon with aerial attacks today. The IAF also attacked a shipping container where weapons were hidden in the area of Tzor, a vehicle that escaped form the launching area, and an additional vehicle aiding the Hezbollah terror organization.
Close to 16:00, a UN UNIFIL soldier was evacuated to a hospital in Israel after he was severely injured by Hezbollah fire in southern Lebanon.
